Happy Sunday! I have something kinda groovy for you today. I’ve been playing drums again, having gotten talked into participating in a Battle of the Bands thing at work. It has been quite a few years since I’ve played a drum kit. There are cobwebs to dust off and some pain to endure (yay, carpal tunnel.) It is fun though and it has me thinking more rhythmically in my ambient jam sessions. Grab some headphones and get your laid-back groove on.

Let’s see, what did I end up with here in an evening of experimentation with percussive sounds. Dice is running the sequence. It triggers the melody, which comes from Plaits. The Popple filter tempers a sine wave cloud coming out of Plaits and Maths provides the envelope. Dice also triggers and provides CV to one side of the STS. Dice is feeding clock to Pam’s, which is used to trigger the other side of STS and provide clock to Octasource and Mimeophon. Delay is provided by Mimeophon of course, and FX Aid provides Reverb. There is some texturizing being faded in and out on uBurst. Finally, I’ve got a MicroFreak synth providing some manually played effects.
